Peridotite, Ardnamurchan.

Rounded olivine in augite (yellow) and plagioclase. Olivines have a corona of chlorite and possibly talc. Plagioclase is slightly yellow, high calcium content increases birefringence. Cumulate texture.

There is a track to Glendrian village, from there it is across country, rough terrain, and further than it looks on the photograph. Allow 1 hour each way from Glendrian if you are fit. Tell someone where you are going, and expected return time. This is a remote and generally unvisited area. (And tell them when you get back!) Do not rely on mobile phone, there is no reception here.
