Olivine

 

Chloritoid in a mica schist from near the Highland Boundary Fault, north of Stonehaven on the Aberdeenshire coast. Pleochroic grey blue to olive, not strong. Rectangular porphryoblasts often showing simple twinning. This mineral is often altered and may be represented by pseudomorphs.
